For John Harris, saving a life and delaying its end is one and the same.

Using this logic, Harris, a bioethicist at the University of Manchester in England, figures that scientists have a moral duty to extend the human life span as far as it will go, even if it means creating beings that live forever.

John Harris knows that it has been proven that the Telomere determines the life span of the cell.  The telomere is located on the tips of the chromosomes; when chromosomes divide some "dummy DNA" falls off.  The DNA that falls off is meant to protect the other genes from being damaged.

Who cares about this?  Understanding that it is remotely possible for someone to live forever in the flesh validates the word of Jesus Christ.

Let's imagine that you are a great real estate owner.  In the course of building your wealth, a few transactions were made that caused you to lie to make the deal more profitable.  When the government found out about it, they required you to sacrifice some of your belongings.

During the time of the old testament a sacrifice was not taken lightly.  A true sacrifice meant giving up at least one of your most valuable possessions.  For example, when Abraham took Isaac as a sacrifice for his sinful behavior.  A true sacrifice is meant to be a constant reminder of our previous behavior, so that we don't repeat it in the future.

A sacrifice for sinful behavior must occur or there would be no reason for people to change their ways.

Therefore, knowing that Jesus Christ could have lived forever in the flesh helps you as you grow in your relationship with Christ understand how much you are missing.  What do I mean how much you are missing?  Do you doubt that your friendship with Christ would be stronger if Christ lived in the flesh in your house?

The more I grow in Christ, the more I miss him in the flesh.
